Without Barriers Competition is now everywhere in Turkey

The most interesting part of the festival has always been Competition Without Barriers, where local films compete, in the past seven years. This year, when the festival is held online, the idea that Competition Without Barriers will reach the whole country excites us. Along with the Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay awards to be determined by the jury, Special Audience Award will be given by the votes of the festival audience in Turkey over the internet.

The jury of the competition includes producer Gökçe Işıl Tuna, actress İpek Türktan Kaynak and cinema writer Kaan Karsan. In Competition Without Barriers, we will screen five feature-length films. The film Aether tells about the 21-day homage visit of Rûken Tekeş to Hasankeyf before it was flooded by the dam. Orçun Behram’s film The Antenna that premiered at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival, is about a dystopia that tells the story of the inhabitants of buildings whose lives turn to hell due to the antenna erected on the roof of their apartment. Emin Alper’s film A Tale of Three Sisters which made its world premiere at the 69th Berlin Film Festival, is about the events that took place after the return of three sisters of different ages who were given as handmaiden after the death of their mother. Kıvanç Sezer's film La Belle Indifference takes a glimpse of today’s white-collar life through the home and business lives of the middle class member Onur and Bahar couple via absurd comedy. Deniz Tortum's documentary film Phases of Matter, which competes at the Rotterdam International Film Festival, follows the alive and inanimate residents of a training hospital in Istanbul, from the operating room to the morgue, between life and other situations, between real and virtual.

Film screenings at the festival will take place on muvi.com and can be watched free of charge on the days and hours announced on the Festival's website and social media accounts. The interviews we have made with the directors can also be followed on muvi.com after the films.

The festival will take place between 12-18 October online and can be followed all over Turkey. You can follow the festival's web page and social media accounts for the screening schedule and details of the films.
