Short Film Competition juries announced

The Short Film Competition, which was held for the second time this year, features 13 short films from 7 different countries. At the end of the festival, among the films in the program; Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay awards will be given to their owners among the films selected by the jury. Andreas Grützner, Jale İncekol and Nesim Bencoya are on the jury of the competition.

Andreas Grützner is an independent filmmaker and editor specializing in documentary filmmaking. He has released fourteen short films and feature length documentaries to date. Besides being a filmmaker, Andreas Grützner is the founder and director of the inclusive short film festival KLAPPE AUF! in Hamburg. The aim of the festival is to curate and present contemporary artistic short films adapted to be accessible to different disability groups.

Jale İncekol has worked as an assistant director in many television series since 1993. She started directing in 2004. She has been making independent documentary films for the last 6 years. She was invited to many festivals in Turkey and abroad with the films "Müzikli Bir Hikaye" and “Umutlu Bir Hikaye", in which she told the stories of women who created miracles with the unifying power of music and the spirit of the Village Institute. The film "A Story with Music" won the Best Documentary Film award three times in competitions held in America, Canada and Turkey. Based on the memories of Village Institute graduate teachers living in Denizli in 2019, she shot the documentary film “Bu” İşte Bir Umut Var” in which she describes the Village Institute model and the Village Institute spirit. Held for the first time at the 3rd İzmir Women Directors Festival in 2020, received Biket İlhan Success Award.

After working as the director of the Haifa Cinematheque, Nesim Bencoya returned to Turkey and served as the director of the Izmir International Short Film Festival, the artistic director of the Malatya International Film Festival and the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival. As the founding director of Hezarfen Film Gallery, the selections he created for the promotion of short films participate in international festivals.
