Towards the Republic, a selection specially prepared for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, is in the festival programme.
The selection curated by Elif Rongen-Kaynakçı, the Silent Film Curator of EYE Filmmuseum, the only museum of film heritage and culture in the Netherlands, where more than 55,000 films from the first motion pictures to the recent films are included, will meet the festival followers with audio description. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Gürata will present the selection accompanied by Turkish sign language.
As Elif Rongen-Kaynakçı emphasised the importance of the selection by saying "Archival footage that has survived through all filters of time will allow us to feel the changes happening in the streets, rather than reading about them in historical books", the selection consists of 9 archive films and lasts 42 minutes.
