Zeki Ökten
One of the prominent representatives of “Young” Turkish cinema in 1970s and accepted as the follower of the cinema aesthetics of Yılmaz Güney. The most significant difference of Ökten from the other filmmakers in Turkey is his approach to the cases, people, communities and historical periods with a sociological and sometimes anthropological point of view. In some of his films, Ökten used the cinema as a tool of establishing a historical/social or economical model of the country he lives in, the society, the period itself or some parts of the period.
