11 April 1976, a Sunday... We are at the Paris-Roubaix race, known as the ‘Hell of the North’ or ‘A Sunday in Hell’, one of the oldest and toughest races in cycling. Dozens of unforgettable stories beyond just an ordinary race come to life on the famous cobblestone roads running from the north of Paris to the town of Roubaix on the Belgian border. While the biggest cycling stars of the day pedal through ‘Hell’, director Jørgen Leth, who has devoted a considerable part of his life to the sport, follows the biggest one-day race in history with an army of cameramen.
