In our modern world, genetic engineering lets us detect and deselect all unwanted and imperfect genes before the birth. Soon we will live in a world with nothing but flawless, perfect and able-bodied people – but maybe perfection comes at a price when science defies evolution? The stand-up comedian Jacob Nossel has cerebral palsy. He could have been ‘deselected’ by scientists and his parents before he even was born. And realistically, he is now a burden on society and at best an interesting case for scientists to study.
